"Bondi Sings" is a community choir which was formed many years ago as an initiative of the Waverley Council. In 2013 the choir became registered as a not for profit association and is now managed by a committee of dedicated members.
The choir meets for 2 hours each Tuesday night during school terms. The meeting time is 7.30pm. Our rehearsal venue is St Columba Uniting Church - 53 Ocean St Woollahra.
There is no audition although it's best if members can sing in tune and help to make a harmonious sound.
The choir is directed by Gary Smith who is a music educator and freelance musician with many years experience in NSW schools and various choirs and small acappella ensembles.
Fees for choir members
Membership in The Bondi Sings Choir is renewed at the start of each term by payment of the term fee which is currently $170. This amount has 2 components - $155 Choir Director Fee plus $15 Choir Admin Fee, which goes towards rent for the rehearsal space, public liability insurance, registered association fees, sheet music, copyright and other admonistrative expenses. Terms are approximately 10 weeks in length, although occasionally they can be 9 weeks or 11 weeks depending on the school terms and the Choir Directors requirements. Fees are payable within 7 days of receipt of an invoice which is sent at the start of each term. Fees for choir membership are not payable on a weekly basis. Occasionally members request blocks of time off due to personal, work or family commitments. In these circumstances discounts are offered for people having 3 or more weeks off in a row. However, the pro rata rate per week is slightly higher. Fees here
